How Cannabis Affects Heart and Brain

What is Cannabis?

Cannabis is a plant commonly known as marijuana. It is a drug plant that is used for medicines and other recreational purposes. Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) is one of the principal components of cannabis which works as a psychoactive component to leave the drug effect on the person who smokes, takes within the food, or vaporizes.

As far as the connection of cannabis with heart and brain is concerned, there are innumerable researches that are underway and this research is evolving with the time. Scientists and researchers from all over the world are working together to unravel all the effects of cannabis on the heart and brain. The use of marijuana as a drug is as old as known history. It is said that people are using it as a drug for 6000 years. The use of cannabis plants for medicine is also ancient. However, a large group of young people is indulged in the consumption of marijuana in the USA and all over the world. A large number of youths in the USA are trying to get medical marijuana cards which once given, will enlarge this already mammoth number. This excessive use has a lot of consequences and this is why researches have started exploring its repercussions on the health of users. In this article, the effects of marijuana on the heart and brain of a person will be discussed.

Cannabis of CBD on Heart:

The heart attack is one of the principal issues that can arise with the excessive use of cannabis. The repercussions of CBD are overt in the people who are in their adolescent age. When one uses cannabis in abundance, it not only weakens the heart of a person but also dilates the blood vessels. Once the heart vessels are dilated, it becomes a tough ask for the heart to pump optimally. In such conditions, the chances of heart attack are very high. This risk becomes even more severe during the one hour after the use of cannabis as per revered researches. Moreover, the use of CBD also lowers the blood pressure of a person. This lowering of blood pressure creates cardiovascular issues. A person who has a history of heart disease may get affected by marijuana more than others who do not have it. Low blood pressure leads to heart attack most of the time and death becomes inevitable.

Cannabis Implications on Brain:

Marijuana has serious implications on the brain of a person as per a few authentic pieces of research. All the body of a person is dependent upon the optimal working of the brain. If your brain is working in a perfect condition, your body remains healthy and perfect while the case is otherwise if your brain is not healthy and working perfectly. One can have functional impairment, brain stroke, brain injury, and a few other severe problems if cannabis is not taken properly or without prescription. The presence of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) in marijuana is one of the reasons for the atrocities it inflicts on the brain. THC interacts with two receptors CB1 and CB2 which results in Ischemic stroke. Cannabis also affects your memory, ability to learn, and impulse control. A study conducted in New Zealand concludes that it lowers the IQ level of an adolescent from 6 to 8 points. The functional impairment is also legible in most of the cases.

Summation:

In a nutshell, the use of marijuana affects the brain and heart destructively and leads to death in a few cases. It lowers the IQ and productivity of the young ones and reduces the life expectancy of a person. This is why one should not use it without prescription.
